Recycling and Refuse
From 30 September 2019
Your brown recycling bin is for glass, plastics and cans.
On recycling week (alternating with refuse week), together with your
food waste bin
What can go in the bin?
Glass bottles & jars
Plastic bottles, clear or coloured (e.g. cleaning product bottles)
Plastic pots & tubs (e.g. butter/yoghurt/ice cream)
Plastic food trays & punnets,
(e.g. meat/ready meals/fruit/veg)
Sweet / biscuit tins
Aluminium foil / foil food trays
Please rinse items and place loose in the bin, metal and plastic lids can go in the bin loose - no plastic bags.
What cannot go in the bin?
Cling film or film lids from food packaging
Plastic egg boxes
Crisp and biscuit packets
Paper or cardboard
Tetrapak cartons (e.g. juice, tomatoes and custard)
Check your collection dates
What happens to the recycling?
The contents of your recycling bin are taken to a facility where the materials are separated and then sent on to reprocessors to make into new products.
